CAT/YAR/Breaking Cycles

Service Area: North Inland Region of San Diego County

Our CAT & YAR programs provide behavioral health assessment and treatment services for youth and their families who are either at risk for entering the juvenile justice system or are currently served by the juvenile justice system in the North Inland region of San Diego County. Services are designed to maintain the youth safely at home, reduce delinquency recidivism, improve school attendance if truant, and to increase resilience by enhancing problem solving and pro-social skills, and strengthening protective factors such as positive interpersonal relationships and involvement in pro-social activities. Program services include case management, family and individual therapy, psycho-educational groups, psychiatric services; and coordination/collaboration with other community partners. Groups include Parenting Class; gender and age specific Decision Making, Anger Management and Gang Prevention; and ATOD prevention. Services are either provided on an outreach basis or are clinic based, and are limited to three to six months in duration.

The CAT Program has two components to its services: CAT (community assessment team) and YAR( youth at risk) Both programs are designed to serve youth and their families with the goals of preventing youth from entering the Juvenile Justice System.

CAT services include: Case Management, Psycho-Educational Groups (Decision Making, Anger Management, Gang Prevention, ATOD Prevention, Parenting Classes)as well as  Breaking Cycles for youth enrolled in the Reflections program in San Marcos. Breaking Cycles services include Psychiatric Assessment and Management

YAR Services include: in home, community and clinic based Family, Individual and Group Therapy, Psychiatric Assessment and Management.

Eligibility:
 
- CAT: youth ages 5-18, at risk for entering the Juvenile Justice System. Can be referred by school, probation, other community member or self.  
- YAR: youth ages 8-18, Medi-Cal recipient, at risk for entering the Juvenile Justice System and requesting mental health services. Can be referred by school, other community member or self.  
- Breaking Cycles: Referrals through North County Lifeline Breaking Cycles/Reflections program only.

Clients may self-refer by calling the program at (760) 747-0205. Schools and other community partners also can refer clients by calling our program number and/or by completing and faxing the CAT referral form.
