Night Monitor

Fresno FIRST is a six to fifteen month residential substance abuse, gender responsive, trauma informed residential therapeutic community. It is a part of Female Offenders Treatment and Employment Program (FOTEP). The program provides Services to female women and their children while on parole.

This position exists to provide overnight shift coverage to residents in a female residential treatment facility. Night Aide staff will have limited interaction with clients as their duty hours are typically during the time the clients are expected to b alseep. Night Aides may have frequent interaction with clients in the early morning, but this would be far less than an hour on a typical shift. Due to the overnight hours worked, the Night Aide may , from time to time, be called upon to deal with medical or emotional emergencies/crisis. The Aide should be able to cope with emergency situations and be willing to seek supervision. Background investigations and fingerprinting are required for any successful applicant.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Monitors the residents during the overnight hours and makes sure they are present at the facility. Responds to the resident's need for medication and emergency medical treatment. Maintains program structure and adherance to rules and procedures. Seeks supervision by contacting the Supervising Counselor in case of emergencies. Documents in program log both the regular checks on clients and any emergency/crisis situations which occur. Is able to provide basic direction to clients who experience emotional crisis during this shift.
Communicates effectively with other staff in order to provide consistent treatment for each client. Interacts therapeutically with clients. Displays regular and reliable attendance. Reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled. This is particularly important for this position as there is no other coverage on this shift. Maintains Facility security.

Other Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Follows clinical and administarative chain of command. Displays commitment to and knowledge of program policies and procedures. Keeps current by reading memos, directives, meeting minutes, and revised policies and procedures.

Education, Experience and Training:
Working knowledge of substance abuse programs and treatment. If ex-offender and or ex-addict, must be successfully discharged from parole or probation for at least one year and in continuous recovery for one year. Must pass a background check. This is an entry level position. Staff in this position is expected to be pursuing an education/training designed to further their career in the substance abuse treatment field.
