SSI Advocate

The MHS, Inc. Mariposa Clubhouse is a day program for adults living with a mental illness that provides recovery and rehabilitation opportunities.

Position Description

The SSI Advocate assists mental health consumers with all aspects of applying for Social Security Disability benefits. The SSI Advocate also provides SSI education and outreach services in the community and participates in daily activities in the clubhouse.
The SSI Advocate:
Assists mental health consumers with applying for SSI; tracks and completes all steps of the SSI application process.
Provides SSI advocacy, education and outreach services in the North County community.
Coordinates with other staff and links mental health consumers to appropriate referrals.
Participates in some of the daily clubhouse activities.
Must be detail oriented and have legible handwriting.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School diploma or GED preferred;
One year experience working and/or life experience with the adult mentally ill population.
