Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager

 Riverside Center for Change (RCFC) is a non-profit organization that works with families who have a history of substance abuse. RCFC works in conjunction with Child Protective Services (CPS) in rebuilding these families’ lives. We provide intensive counseling and case management services to parents who have been contacted by and are under supervision of Child Protective Services. Our clients attend an extensive 1-year program that focuses on reconnecting children with their families. This program is designed to assist parents in eliminating drug and/or alcohol dependency, permitting children to be safely returned to their parents, and keeping the family together.
This position provides substance abuse counseling, case management and education services. Counselors interact with clients on a day-to-day basis providing individual and group counseling and education, as well as engaging in rehabilitation activities from time to time. Counselors provide substance abuse recovery skills and information and leadership necessary to provide clients with the ability to recover from substance abuse addiction. Eligibility for employment in MHS programs requires satisfactory criminal background clearance including conviction records. MHS is a Drug-Free Workplace; therefore all staff must comply with Drug-Free Workplace requirements regarding alcohol and drug use. MHS performs post-offer substance abuse testing on all employees.


Education, Experience and Training:
Required:
1. Certified as Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor or working toward certification.
2. Working knowledge of substance-abuse programs and treatment, relapse prevention and 12 step programs.
3. Knowledge of cognitive therapy techniques
4. If recovering from alcohol or drug problems, at least three years of clean and sober, active and continuous recovery
5. At least two years of probation or parole status.
6. Ability to work in Microsoft Excel program.
