- Prevention/Community Education Program
The primary prevention focus is an environmental approach that is community-driven, supported by leadership and includes strategies that impact conditions that accept, condone, encourage and glamorize high-risk use of alcohol and other drugs. NICPP staff work within existing community groups and coalitions and are dedicated to building relationships and promoting cooperation among residents and leaders of education, health, law enforcement, youth, civic organizations, tribal agencies, government and policy makers. These various alliances seek to develop and or change community standards, codes, practices, and norms to prevent and reduce the frequency and severity of alcohol and other drug problems.
